Description

Attorney Bill Lawrence's hitman client unloads a bombshell that will change history: evidence of a murder he committed on September 11, 2001. After finding the explosive documents, Bill immediately enters his family into the witness protection program, much to the dismay of his 24-year-old daughter, Claudia, who's not thrilled about being uprooted from her job and her boyfriend. But the next morning her parents are killed by a car bomb, the hitman is murdered in his cell, and Claudia is accused of her parents' murder. She and her 12-year-old brother, Adam, become fugitives, running from the police and the rogue FBI agents who want them dead. Their only hope of survival is to find the evidence her father possessed, and she and Adam are led on a cross-country quest that eventually lands them on a Chesapeake Bay estate. There, in an ultra-tense climax, Claudia finally deciphers the ugly secret behind 9/11. Will she live to tell about it?

Praise for No Place to Run…

"5.0 out of 5 stars! Author Thomas Sawyer takes the tragic events of 9/11 and uses them for a solid action/adventure suspense thriller in NO PLACE TO RUN. This is the story of Mace Merrick, a professional killer who ironically is serving time for a murder he didn't commit. Seeking to negotiate for his release, Mace has documents regarding a hit he carried out on contract the morning 9/11 happened. What follows is a high level cover-up, more deaths, and Claudia, a young lady who, along with her kid brother Adam, find themselves targets of rogue federal agents trying to tie up loose and embarrassing ends. Framed for their parents' murders, they take off on a cross-country race to stay alive long enough to figure out who killed their parents and discover a horrifying truth behind the infamous attacks of 9/11. NO PLACE TO RUN is a tautly written page-turner of a thriller from beginning to end -- and a highly recommended read."
– MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW

"NO PLACE TO RUN features Sawyer’s famous cinematic prose and, dialogue so authentic it could be bugged by Shadow Ops. A brilliant and fascinating thriller that not only consumes the reader’s imagination, but promotes thoughtful discussion. Worthy of Sawyer’s meticulous standards."

– D. P. Lyle, MD, Edgar-nominated, Macavity-winning author of HOWDUNNIT: FORENSICS

"I am definitely not a conspiracy advocate. I do respect those who have suspicions about government cover-ups. Particularly concerning the many questions left unanswered by the 9/11 report. The same concern has always plagued the report on JFK's assassination. Many people do believe that we are victims of power grabs by nefarious groups. We cannot ignore their suppositions. We are at fault having allowed our government to jettison transparency in favor of increasing secrecy. NO PLACE TO RUN is a good read. Well put together you will enjoy it no matter your position on its premise."
– Michael Butler, producer of Broadway musical, HAIR

NO PLACE TO RUN turns ‘paranoid conspiracy theory’ into the entirely plausible. A page-turner, risk taking, well told and rich in compelling characters. A highly entertaining thriller, and more than a little disturbing.”
– Harley Jane Kozak, winner of Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity Awards, author of? A DATE YOU CAN’T REFUSE
