Diesel, A Bookstore in Malibu is pleased to present Malibu resident and debut children’s book author Denise Doyen in celebration of her first picture book for kids, Once Upon A Twice, on Sunday, September 27 at 3 p.m.
Reminiscent of Lewis Carroll’s Jabberwocky, Doyen has crafted clever nonsense words and rhyming text that pair flawlessly with luminescent illustrations by National Book Award winner Barry Moser. Once Upon A Twice is an irresistible read-aloud that’s just spooky enough to engage young readers as they learn the perils of venturing out on one’s own.
Start: 3:00 pm
Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland is pleased to present local author and St. Mary's professor Gretchen Lemke-Santagelo to the shop to discuss and sign her new book, Daughters of Aquarius: Women of the Sixties Counterculture, a trip that takes readers back to Haight Ashbury and country communes to reveal how “Hippie women” - alternately seen as earth mothers or love goddesses, virgins or vamps - experienced and shaped the counterculture.
This event is free and all are welcome and encouraged to attend!
