Diesel, A Bookstore in Malibu welcomes local author and film critic Harry Medved to the store to present Oak Park, his newest entry in the Images of America series, on Thursday, July 26th at 7pm.Like Harry's previous book, Location Filming in Los Angeles, Oak Park brings historical Los Angeles to life with never-before-seen photographs. Oak Park was born in the mid-1960s on pastoral ranchland previously owned by the radio comedy team of Fibber McGee and Molly in the 1950s and by William Randolph Hearst from the mid-1920s through the 1930s. Originally a Native American site, Oak Park was designed by its builder as a "community in the country" capturing "the scenic grandeur of early California." In addition to discussing Oak Park, the author will show clips from movies filmed in and around Oak Park.Harry Medved has served as an entertainment publicist for Yahoo!, Warner Bros. Online and the Screen Actors Guild. Prior to creating the "Lost and Found" travel column for the Pasadena Star-News, he co-authored the popular movie books The Fifty Worst Films of All Time, The Golden Turkey Awards, and The Hollywood Hall of Shame. A former decades-long Santa Monica resident, he now lives in Oak Park with his family.
