Indies First Celebration of Small Business Saturday

Larkspur

Join some of our favorite local authors at DIESEL,  A Bookstore, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. To celebrate the start of the holiday season, they'll be here to help you choose gifts for your friends and family (or yourself!). After all, what makes a better gift than a book, and who knows books better than authors?

Indies First for First Peoples!  This year, DIESEL, A Bookstore will be donating 10% of all purchases made today to support the Standing Rock protests!

WHAT IS "INDIES FIRST"?
All across the country, authors will be spending Saturday, November 26th, volunteering as booksellers at their local independent bookstores as part of the Indies First program. Can't make it to DiIESEL?  Check the map here to find a participating bookstore near you.

WHAT IS "SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY"?
Small Business Saturday® was founded in 2010 by American Express to help business owners with their most pressing need: getting more customers. Five years later, shoppers across the nation continue to rally in support of small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

GET OUT AND SHOP SMALL®
Shop at local small businesses and spread the word on social media using the hashtag #ShopSmall.

Elizabeth Rynecki at DIESEL, A Bookstore in Larkpsur

Elizabeth Rynecki is the great-granddaughter of the Polish-Jewish artist, Moshe Rynecki (1881-1943) and author of her memoir, Chasing Portraits. She grew up with his paintings prominently displayed on the walls of her family home and understood from an early age that the art connected her to a legacy from the old country: Poland. In 1999, Elizabeth designed the original Moshe Rynecki: Portrait of a Life in Art website. Today, she continually updates it to keep it current regarding academic research, educational resources, and tracking lost Rynecki paintings. Elizabeth has a BA in Rhetoric from Bates College and a master's degree in Rhetoric and Speech Communications from UC Davis.
