Oakland - Antoine Wilson discusses and signs "Panorama City"

Oakland Events

Antoine Wilson at Diesel Bookstore Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes Antoine Wilson to the store to discuss and sign his acclaimed new novel, Panorama City, on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7pm. Diesel bookseller John Evans says of the book, "What happened the first time you read Salinger, or Harper Lee, Melville, Fitzgerald, Lolita? The voices: the intimate, particular, vulnerable, powerful voices. Meet Oppen Porter, and add him to the pantheon of distinctly American voices speaking unspoken truths with startling plainness."

Panorama City tells the story of twenty-eight-year-old Oppen Porter - an open-hearted, bicycle-riding, binocular-toting, self-described "slow absorber" - who thinks he's dying. He's not, but from his hospital bed, he unspools into a cassette recorder a tale of self-determination, from village idiot to man of the world, for the benefit of his unborn son. "Panorama City is charming and absurd, very funny and, best of all, humane through and through." --Paul Harding, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Tinkers
