Oakland - Erin Marie Daly discusses and signs "Generation RX"

Oakland Events

Erin Marie Daly at DIESEL, A BookstoreDiesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes Erin Marie Daly to the store to discuss and sign her new book, Generation RX: A Story of Dope, Death, and America's Opiate Crisis, on Thursday, August 28th at 7pm.

In 2009, Erin Marie Daly’s youngest brother Pat was found dead of a heroin overdose. He was twenty years old. He’d been an OxyContin addict, and over a few years, the powerful prescription painkiller had turned him from a fun-loving ball of energy to a heroin addict intent on his next fix. In an attempt to understand her brother’s struggle with opiates, Erin set out on a powerful personal journey, and was startled to discover a new twist to the ongoing prescription drug epidemic. Generation RX presents a disturbing new look at how a generation of young people, hooked on today’s increasingly powerful opioids, are finding themselves in the frightening grip of heroin.

Erin Marie Daly is the founder of Oxy Watchdog, a blog about painkillers and heroin addiction. She worked for five years as a senior reporter for Law360, where she covered the pharmaceutical industry and product liability litigation. In 2012, she was awarded the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Excellence in Journalism in the Online Reporting category from the Society for Professional Journalists. She was also nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Digital Journalism in 2007.
