Oakland - John "JT the Brick" Tournour discusses and signs "The Handoff"
Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland Diesel, welcomes author John Tournour (better known to fans as JT the Brick) to the store to discuss and sign his new book, The Handoff: A Memoir of Two Guys, Sports, and Friendship, on Thursday, August 22nd at 7pm.
Becoming a sports radio host is no easy task. The pay is lousy and the competition is stiff. So when, John Tournour left his lucrative position as a Merrill Lynch stockbroker to do just that, he knew he had his work cut out for him. But after winning Jim Rome's first annual Great American Smack-Off in 1995, he was on his way to sports radio stardom. However, the hardest thing John, nicknamed JT the Brick, had to face during his rise to success was the loss of his best friend and mentor, Andrew Ashwood, to cancer. This is his story, a story of self-change while watching his best friend's struggle, a story of learned lessons from his role model's heroic courage, and above all, a story of friendship.
John "JT the Brick" Tournour began his radio career in 1995. In 2001, Fox Sports Radio hired him to host what has become the top syndicated nighttime sports radio show in America. He's been working for the Oakland Raiders for the past fifteen years, doing pre-game, post-game, and now the weekly "Raiders Report." He lives in Las Vegas with his family.
