Oakland - Publication Party for "Kill City Blues" with Richard Kadrey
Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland hosts the publication party for Kill City Blues by Richard Kadrey on Tuesday, July 30th at 7pm.
Kill City Blues sees the return of the titular (anti-)hero, Sandman Slim, a half-angel, half-demon hitman from Hell, to the great City of Angels, Los Angeles. He wants to lay low, watch his extensive DVD collection, and eat take-out. But the Universe, with all its demented denizens, just seems to need him too much. When a powerful weapon known as the "8 Ball" goes missing, Sandman Slim will have to find it, if only to keep power-hungry mortals and destruction-bent gods from using it for their own nefarious aims. Kill City Blues -- number five in the Sandman Slim series -- is more than your typical urban fantasy/horror. This is a profanity-laden, comedic, ultra-violent action-thriller written in the tradition of American crime novelists like Richard Stark and James M. Cain... just with demons, ex-pornstars, gods, and a whole lot of blood.
Richard Kadrey is a prolific San Francisco-based freelance writer and photographer. He has published eight novels, including Sandman Slim, Kill the Dead, Aloha from Hell, Devil Said Bang, Butcher Bird, and Metrophage, more than fifty short stories, articles for Wired, The San Francisco Chronicle, and DVD reviews for io9.com. Kadrey has also been immortalized as an action figure, "Kadray (sic): The Invincible Wizard."
