Oakland - Release Party for ZYZZYVA: Fall Issue
Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes local contributors Dean Rader, Rosie Cima, Nana Twumasi and Kate Milliken to the store to celebrate the release of ZYZZYVA's Fall Issue on Friday, September 20th at 7pm.
ZYZZYVA, the San Francisco literary journal recently honored with a Best American Short Story 2013, a Best American Essay 2103, and a Pushcart Prize 2013, celebrates the publication of its latest issue with a reading with four of its contributors - come early to get a seat! There will be wine and snacks, as well as copies of Issue No. 98 available. Editors Laura Cogan and Oscar Villalon will host.
Dean Rader's poetry collection Works & Days was the winner of the T.S. Eliot Prize. His new book, Landscape/Portrait/Figure/Form will be published in November.
Rosie Cima is a political writer at MapLight, a nonprofit research organization that tracks money's influence on politics. Her story in the Fall issue, "Going Solo," is her first fiction in print.
Nana K. Twumasi is the editorial program coordinator at John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Kate Milliken's forthcoming story collection, If I'd Known You Were Coming won the John Simmons Award for Short Fiction, judged by Julie Orringer.
