Oakland - Renee Swindle discusses and signs "Shake Down the Stars"
Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes author Renee Swindle to the store to discuss and sign her new book, Shake Down the Stars, on Sunday, August 25th at 3pm.
Piper Nelson's sister is busy planning her wedding to a professional football player and preparing for a reality TV show, her mother is married to a celebrity evangelist, and her ex-husband's new girlfriend is pregnant. Everyone around her is moving on, but Piper herself is stuck. Haunted by the tragic loss of her daughter years ago, she moves through her day to day existence drinking too much and meeting unsuitable men. She knows she needs to get out of her rut, but how? Fortunately for her, a few new friends are here to teach her how to love and laugh again.
Both light and heavy, funny and poignant, Shake Down the Stars, with its quirky cast of characters and unexpected love interest, brings a fresh breath of air to the typical story of feeling adrift in your own world.
Local author, Renee Swindle also wrote the novel, Please, Please, Please. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from San Diego State University, where she taught both composition and creative writing. She lives in Oakland.
