Nourishment is Here

Among all the cynics touting the death of the book in our technological age it is most refreshing to see poetry getting a new home in lower Manhattan. More refreshing still is the transparent building of glass and light sitting on a rent-free lease through 2069, funded in part by Battery Park City Authority.

Poet and Sarah Lawrence College professor Marie Howe said it best: "They should have a huge sign outside: ‘Rest is here. Safety is here. Nourishment is here’...It’s the water of life, but so rarely do we get to drink from it. It’s the song of the human soul." Indeed.
