Join us on Sunday June 5th 3:00 pm as we welcome back Nina LaCour (former indie bookseller at Diesel, Oakland!) to the store to discuss and sign Yerba Buena. Joining her in conversation will be Jennifer E. Smith.

This event is free to attend and will be held in the courtyard at DIESEL, A Bookstore in Brentwood. Masks are required to attend.

Sara Foster left her family behind and hitchhiked to LA at age 16. Years later, she takes a job as a bartender at Yerba Buena and uses the herb that got her through her journey to mix the restaurant’s signature cocktail.

Emilie Dubois is starting her seventh year of college and working as a florist. When she takes a job arranging flowers at the glamorous Yerba Buena, she never expects to have an affair with the married owner, or to catch sight of a mysterious woman behind the bar.

Emilie and Sara’s stories intertwine and intersect, but will the timing ever be right for their connection to bloom?

Nina LaCour is the Michael L. Printz award-winning and nationally bestselling author of Watch Over Me, We Are Okay, Hold Still, and Everything Leads to You. She hosts the podcast Keeping a Notebook and teaches for Hamline University’s MFA in writing for Children and Young Adults program. A former indie bookseller and high school English teacher, she lives with her family in San Francisco.

Jennifer E. Smith is the author of nine books for young adults, including The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between, both of which have been adapted for film. She earned a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and her work has been translated into thirty-three languages. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
