Brentwood - Cathleen Schine discusses and signs "Fin and Lady"
Diesel, A Bookstore in Brentwood welcomes author Cathleen Schine to the store to discuss and sign her new book, Fin and Lady, on Thursday, August 8th at 7pm.
In 1964, Fin is eleven years old. His grandparents and father have passed away, and when his sick mother dies, Finn has become an orphan. The only one to take care of him is Lady, his glamorous, worldly, older half-sister, whom he hasn't seen since he was five. Lady uproots Finn from his life in rural Connecticut and immerses him in her life in Greenwich Village. This is the swinging sixties we're talking about too, when a counterculture revolution wrestled with the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement. In this coming of age story, Finn learns the meaning of family, and that Lady is as much his responsibility as he is hers.
Cathleen Schine is the author of The Three Weissmanns of Westport, The New Yorkers, and The Love Letter, among other novels. She has contributed to The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Magazine, and The New York Times Book Review.
