Brentwood - Diane Leslie's Book Group with Author discusses "The Luminous Heart of Jonah S."
Diane Leslie's Book Group with Author meets to discuss Gina B. Nahai's novel, The Luminous Heart of Jonah S., on Thursday, October 30th at 5pm.
The best part? Gina B. Nahai will be joining in the discussion!
From Tehran to Los Angeles, The Luminous Heart of Jonah S. is a sweeping saga that tells the story of the Soleymans, an Iranian Jewish family tormented for decades by Raphael's Son (yes, that's his name), a crafty and unscrupulous financier who has futilely claimed to be an heir to the family's fortune. Forty years later in contemporary Los Angeles, Raphael's Son has suddenly disappeared, presumed by many to have been murdered. The possible suspects are legion: his long-suffering wife; numerous members of the Soleyman clan out for revenge; the scores of investors he bankrupted in a Ponzi scheme; or perhaps even his disgruntled bookkeeper and longtime confidant.
Gina B. Nahai is a bestselling author, columnist, and full-time lecturer at USC's Master of Professional Writing Program. Her novels have been translated into eighteen languages, and have been selected as "Best Books of the Year" by the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune. She writes a monthly column for the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles and is a frequent lecturer on the politics of pre- and postrevolutionary Iran.
Diane Leslie is the author of Fleur de Leigh's Life of Crime, a Los Angeles Times bestseller for twenty-eight weeks and Fleur de Leigh in Exile. She lives in Los Angeles, where for many years she hosted author readings and led book groups at the former Dutton's Brentwood Bookstore. She now hosts her book group at Diesel, A Bookstore.
Please Note: Reservations are required for this event, there is a $20 fee, and you must purchase your copy of the book from DIESEL.
