Brentwood- Women's National Book Association celebrates National Reading Group Month
Diesel, A Bookstore in Brentwood welcomes the Los Angeles chapter of the Women's National Book Association and authors Cynthia Bond, Michelle Huneven, Gina B. Nahai, and Gabrielle Zevin to celebrate National Reading Group Month at the store with a panel discussion on Tuesday, October 21st at 6:30pm. Author Diane Leslie will moderate.
Every October, the ten chapters of the Women's National Book Association, located around the country, organize events in celebration of National Reading Group Month. The LA chapter has gathered four outstanding local women authors to take part in a panel discussion moderated by fellow author and book group organizer, Diane Leslie. Cynthia Bond is the author of Ruby. A PEN/Rosenthal Fellow, Bond founded the Blackbird Writing Collective in 2011 and she has taught writing to homeless and at-risk youth throughout Los Angeles for more than fifteen years. At present, Bond teaches therapeutic writing at Paradigm Malibu Adolescent Treatment Center. A native of East Texas, she lives in Los Angeles with her daughter.
Michelle Huneven is the award-winning author of Blame, Jamesland, and Round Rock. Jamesland was a New York Times Notable Book and a winner of the Southern California Bookseller's Award for Fiction. Blame was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Michelle lives in California with her husband.
Gina B. Nahai's Moonlight on the Avenue of Faith was a number one bestseller in Los Angeles. She is also the author of Cry of the Peacock. She lives in Beverly Hills, California.
Gabrielle Zevin is the author of Elsewhere, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, and Margarettown. She also writes screenplays.
Diane Leslie is the author of Fleur de Leigh's Life of Crime, a Los Angeles Times bestseller for twenty-eight weeks and Fleur de Leigh in Exile. She lives in Los Angeles, where for many years she hosted author readings and led book groups at the former Dutton's Brentwood Bookstore. She now hosts her book group at Diesel, A Bookstore.
