Yes, friends, the holidays are upon us once again, which means it's time for family, friends, and food. Lots and lots of food. As we all know, nothing else brings people together in quite the same way: we bond over flavors, we swap stories and recipes, and we sit back sated and sedated. Sure you've got your time-honored recipes and go-to dishes, but isn't it time to bring some fresh flavors to your table?
Come to our ever popular Winter Cookbook Extravaganza! Joining us this time to present their new cookbooks (and of course bring some excellent food) will be authors: Bryant Terry, Karen Solomon, Jean-Pierre Moulle, Denise Moulle, and Josey Baker!
Chef and activist Bryant Terry is a leader in the movement to promote healthy eating, host of the web series Urban Organic, and author of Inspired Vegan and Vegan Soul Kitchen. His new cookbook is Afro-Vegan: Farm-Fresh African, Caribbean, and Southern Flavors Remixed.
Karen Solomon is the author of Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It; Can It, Bottle It, Smoke It, and the recently released Asian Pickles: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Cured, and Fermented Preserves from Korea, Japan, China, India, and Beyond. She is a contributing author to Chow! San Francisco Bay Area and a former contributing editor to Zagat Survey: San Francisco Bay Area Restaurants.
Until his retirement in 2012, Jean-Pierre Moulle was the executive chef at Chez Panisse, where he began working in 1975. Denise Moulle comes from the Bordeaux wine-making empire of the Lurton family. She worked as a wine distributor in California for many years before starting Two Bordelais in 1987, which offers guided tours through France. Their new cookbook is French Roots: Two Cooks, Two Countries, and the Beautiful Food Along the Way.
Josey Baker is a one-man bread-baking empire based in San Francisco's NOPA district. He likes kids, and jumping into rivers, but mainly, he likes baking. His new book is Josey Baker Bread.
