ZYZZYVA at Diesel Bookstore


Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes local contributors Molly Giles, Alexandra Teague, Aaron Jae-Ho Shin, and Marianna Cherry to the store to celebrate the release of ZYZZYVA's Spring/Summer Issue on Friday, May 17th at 7pm.

ZYZZYVA, the award-winning West Coast literary journal, celebrates the publication of its latest issue with a reading with four of its contributors - come early to get a seat! There will be wine and snacks, as well as copies of Issue No. 97 available. Editors Laura Cogan and Oscar Villalon will host.

The readers:

Molly Giles is a novelist and short-story writer whose books include Iron Shoes, Rough Translations, and Creek Walk. She has been awarded the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction and has taught at San Francisco State University. She is now a professor at the University of Arkansas.

Alexandra Teague’s first book, Mortal Geography (Persea Books), received a California Book Award and the Lexi Rudnitsky Prize. She is an assistant professor of poetry at the University of Idaho.

Aaron Jae-Ho Shin’s story “Erroneous” in Issue No. 97 marks his first time in print. He grew up in the Bay Area and is a literature and writing instructor in South Korea.

Marianna Cherry is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize and has been published in Chelsea, Best Women’s Erotica, and elsewhere. She lives in San Francisco and is a member of the Writers Grotto.
