Saturday, April 27th - 5th Anniversary Independent Bookstore Day!

5 year anniversary Independent Bookstore Day April 27, 2019

Independent Bookstore Day returns with its fifth annual celebration! Independent bookstores are not just stores, they’re community centers and local anchors run by passionate readers. They are entire universes of ideas that contain the possibility of real serendipity. They are lively performance spaces and quiet places where aimless perusal is a day well spent.

In a world of tweets and algorithms and pageless digital downloads, bookstores are not a dying anachronism. They are living, breathing organisms that continue to grow and expand. In fact, there are more of them this year than there were last year and we are at your service. So come out and enjoy a day of browsing, reading, and reveling in all things book-related.

When is it? Saturday, April 27th, 2019

What will we be doing?

-11 am and 2 pm -- Storytime! Kids, come gather around to hear one of our staff read a story or two.

-All Day -- Literary Scavenger Hunt for Kids - This customer favorite is back again. Scout the bookstore to answer the questions then submit your entry into a drawing for a prize!

-All Day -- Have you signed up for Libro.fm yet? They will be giving away free audiobook downloads today to all members in celebration of Independent Bookstore Day. Click on the link to join or stop by the store to learn more from one of our informed booksellers.

What items will we have? We will be selling some of the featured items specially printed for Independent Bookstore Day (and giving away some freebies too!).

IBD at DIESEL, A Bookstore THUD (a new LA-based comedy company led by former editors from The Onion), invited us to partner with them to distribute their latest publication, Mampfen

With its definitive restaurant ratings and exhaustive knowledge of the local culinary scene, Mampfen is the ultimate LA dining guide for those discerning enough to look at what they're eating before it enters their mouth. Mampfen's reviewers have consumed over 14 tons of food at eateries across the Los Angeles area—from the city's most exclusive fine-dining mainstays, to its seediest back-alley kielbasa parlors, to its least guarded craft services tables—all in service of telling you which things are yummy to eat and which things are not. Pick up your free copy of Mampfen's LA dining guide today and never take an inadequate bite again. (Mampfen is a parody of the Michelin and Zagat restaurant guides and aims to satirize the world of fine-dining, foodie culture, and restaurant criticism.)

We are unable to hold any of these items or sell them over the phone, so plan on stopping by to see what's available. Supplies are limited.

**Please note -  Only 2 per item per customer.
