Independent Bookstore Day 2016
Independent Bookstore Day returns with its second annual celebration! Bookstores are unique places in the chaos and hubub of our modern times. They are places where you can come to disconnect, relax, and enjoy a moment of silence, yet simultaneously they are also places you can come to feel more engaged with and informed about the world around you. Bookstores embody dichotomy: antiquated yet ever-more relevant, sanctuaries of knowledge but also purveyors of distraction, nerdy yet sophisticated, esoteric and yet ultimately, welcoming. Cities across the nation have seen the resurgence of these oh-so-vital centers of conscience and community, and we want to celebrate with you! So come out and enjoy a day of browsing, reading, and reveling in all things book-related.
When is it? Saturday, April 30th, 2016
What's happening? One-of-a-kind, limited-edition items will be available for one day at independent bookstores; stuff like unique books and art, signed prints and lithographs, bags and tea towels! Take a look below at what we'll have available. You'll have to come by in-person to get your mitts on these great items.
Please note: Only 2 of any item per customer. We can't hold anything or sell over the phone. But there are lots of reasons to come down to the store anyway.
While all of our stores will have sales, specials, miscellaneous activities and games, food, and drink, here's some extra incentive to drop by:
10am: Big Kid / Little Kid Juice Stand (read: Mimosas!)
11am: Storytime with Kati Hites, author of Winnie & Waldorf + Crafts!
2pm: C.D. Wright Appreciation & Release Party
8:30pm Free screening of John Huston's 1979 film adaptation of Flannery O'Connor's novel, Wise Blood
